Our Mission
Korean webtoons have evolved from a niche digital medium into a multi-billion dollar global storytelling phenomenon. However, readers worldwide previously lacked a clean, dedicated, and comprehensive platform to log chapters, discover titles by nuanced tropes (Murim, Regression, System, Otome Isekai), and read rigorous editorial critiques. ManhwaVault exists to be that permanent home for the global webtoon community.
Bayesian Rating Methodology
Standard arithmetic mean ratings on web platforms suffer from severe vulnerabilities: small titles with 5 enthusiastic votes can easily outrank legendary masterpieces with 100,000 ratings.
The Weighted Bayesian Average Formula
Weighted Rating (WR) = (v / (v + m)) × R + (m / (v + m)) × C
- • R = Average raw score of the specific title.
- • v = Total number of community ratings recorded for the title.
- • m = Minimum vote threshold required for leaderboard inclusion (set at 500 votes).
- • C = Mean rating across the entire ManhwaVault catalog (~4.50 / 5.0).
This mathematical dampener guarantees that titles on the Top 100 Leaderboard reflect statistically robust, high-confidence reader consensus.
