In-Depth Editorial Review
Critical analysis, artistic evaluation, and thematic breakdown by ManhwaVault critics
Myst, Might, Mayhem (Goeryeok Nansin), penned by Hanjoongwolya (the author of Nano Machine and Absolute Sword Sense) and illustrated with dark, intoxicating visual splendor by REDICE STUDIO, is one of the most riveting dark fantasy Murim series serialized today.
Serving as a prequel set centuries before the events of Nano Machine, the series follows Mok Gyeong-woon, a young man who awakens inside the bloodied ruins of a manor with no memories of his past, only to discover he possesses a terrifying supernatural gift: the ability to see, commune with, and consume malevolent spirits, apparitions, and mythical ghosts.
Rather than being terrified of the paranormal, Mok Gyeong-woon is an unapologetically cold-blooded, brilliant psychopath who weaponizes supernatural apparitions to subjugate the martial world. REDICE STUDIO’s art is at its all-time zenith here: eerie ghostly apparitions, pitch-black demonic arts, and visceral sword combat make every single chapter an adrenaline-pumping visual spectacle.
Mok Gyeong-woon’s ascension to becoming the mythical First Heavenly Demon and founding the Demonic Cult is packed with high-stakes political intrigue, brutal clan warfare, and some of the smartest tactical anti-hero schemes in modern manhwa.
